CuzIt, I think when the tomato starts to turn an orangeish / reddish color, simply pluck it from the vine. 'Bout all there is to it. Somebody needs to tell Furmans Cannery they've been making it too hard on themselves. It's Furmano's, that's who we ship too. It may be simpler doing it by hand. With a machine it picks the entire plant. We have to only let the good orange/red tomatoes through. Nothing else can make it onto the trailer.

Well yeah, it's Furmanos since they decided to Italian up their label a bit. If you go to work in the plant, as far as I know your check will say Furman foods. They still market a lot of products under the Furman label. If I can catch them in a good mood, they'll sometimes let me pick up buckets of field rejects for the pigs. All laid out in a neat row, they're great while they're fresh. My grandparents grew for them a few years, way back when. I'm always amazed when I ride by the harvested fields how much is left lay. Gotta be expensive.

Just had my "Laugh for the Week " and its only Mon. Made my usual daily stroll threw AW and came across the Thank you Administrators for cleaning up this place in the Lounge.......all this after watching ICF/rswfarms sign in as 3 or 4 new posters in the last few days and carry on a conversation with himself about selling a 40 so he could come up with down payment for a quarter !!!!!! What a hoot !!! Thought I was in the humor section !!!! John
