Last time I stopped at the dodge dealership to look at a megacab diesel all decked out the sticker price was over 50,000.
And now we wonder why we see diesels with 189 thousand miles and people still asking almost 20 thousand for them.
That is plum Nuts!
And I'd like to know how the heck does someone pencil the depreciation off a new pickup as fast as it goes down before the ink dries on the paperwork.
At any rate.... Thinking back to the thread below about swapping engines.... I believe Gambi, your right. It be more of a PITA then it's worth.
Might as well just trade.... but..... trade allowances... ha.... I am not seeing how its going to work.

Yea it's a joke ain't it? I'll never price new because I can't, nor do I want to, afford a new truck.
I wanted to find an ex cab chevy d-max...either a cherry 01-02 or an 06 but I had no luck on either. The 01/2 still fetch near $20,000 and the 06/7 near $30,000+...
So I bought an 09 gasser for the price of a half worn out 5 year old diesel pickup.

Local vet has a '06 Chev ext duramax HD2500 4X4 w/88,000. Stopped in to price it, was shocked at the 25K sticker price. Find it kinda hard to pay out that kind of cash for a used pickup truck.

Hard to find a striped down D truck. Only things left this time of year are the top of the line models

Talked to a friend today, he told me his son just bought a new Dodge Megacab 4wd Cummins with everything-everything!!- and paid $47K. I didn't ask what sticker was.
The buyer figured it was a better deal than any used one he could find-3-4 yr old trucks with 100-120K, they wanted $38K and wouldn't deal.

Friend here just bought a 4 dr (not megacab) short bed loaded to the hilt 2500. Traded corn for it which saved him sales tax and got him a few extra discounts. Was around 43K. I'll keep my 97 2500 til I croak for that.
