We're thinking about buying a Wrangler Unlimited. Does anyone have one? Are they any good? What kind of mileage do they get? I know they are all modern, but are they still the real thing like the CJ I had in high school? Are they still cold in the winter and hot in the summer like it was? I don't want that! LOL. I miss driving around in the summer with the top down!

My wife and I rented one in California a few weeks ago, and I know sometime in the future I'm gonna have one. It was so much nicer than my 99. Don't get me wrong my 99 keeps you plenty warm or cool. But the unlimited drove so much nicer and and rode so much better. We got anywhere form 18-20mpg with it, and I was being easy on it either... (you know it's a rental). Number one feature I like was the sun rider soft top.. So nice and easy to put back, without having to put the whole top back. The top was a little noisy but that was from other renters Fing it all up.

I talked to a guy at the parts store a few years ago. He claimed he was getting 23mpg.
I have a 2006 TJ, with a soft top. It will be warm in the cab in 2 miles. AC cools down quick also. But I run topless all summer.

I'm having second thoughts. I don't know if I can stand going topless in such a nice vehicle all summer long. The dust gets everywhere and it would be impossible to get clean again. The CJ was always a dirty girl no matter if she was buttoned up, in her bikini, or topless, so it didn't matter! LOL

That's one nice thing about the "sun rider soft top." Very easy to flash the sun or moon. And the newer tops fit tight and don't let the dirt in like the CJ

That sun rider top just looks funny! It covers up everything that is supposed to be open, but you are still going to be getting sunburn just like if you were going topless. Do you know if you can have the bikini part on with the back part off?

It only swings one way. I have a bikini top for mine that lets some light in. while blocking the UV raze. When I bought it, it was brand new on the market.
They do make a bikini that covers, both front and back.
