What are the issues with this model? Local dealer has it, I have not went to see it in person. Talked to the man who owned it, he said it worked fine, but the rolls had developed a roar to them. Said something about the gearbox being mounted on a rubber grommit(s) and the grommits being bad, dryrot I suppose. Would that cause the roar or is it something a bit deeper. Just toying with the notion of replacing my IH 1190 as it is showing some wear and getting stretched a bit thin. Other option at the moment is a New Holland 472 that dad found and pull two conditioners in the field, but.... Odds are I do nothing but I want to ask anyway. www.tractorhouse.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=6824413&

We had a 920 woth the impeller. It was a good machine but pulled hard. We went to a 535 with rolls. It is 11'6" and pulls easier than the 920 with impellers. Overall it was a good machine. THis might have a kuhn bar but I think it is a deere built. DO NOT try it out unless you are serious about buying it because you will wonder why you stuck with a sickle machine so long. Will be all your 4030 or 1100 will want though.

I have cut hay with a disc mower before, quite a bit actually, mostly grass. Did cut some alfalfa with a neighbors disc mower when my cutter had a nervous breakdown last year, and I agree, cats ass in lodged alfalfa, but I just run it and work on it, not write the check, if you understand what I am getting at. I want to go and check it out but I think dad has about shut me down on it.
