I am suspicious of any Mac system optimizing packages. Anything you need to maintain your system is built right into OS X.
Applications->Utilities->Disk Utility. Choose your hard drive on the left. On the right, click "Verify Disk Permissions" and let it do its thing. If anything shows up in the details list, click "Repair Disk Permissions". Do the same thing with "Verify Disk" and "Repair Disk". See if that makes her pop.
If not, Applications->Utilities->Activity Monitor. Clicking on the tabs along the bottom gives you a peek as to what is going on and can help you ID any processes that are using an unusual amount of system resources. I used this to ID that my battery backup software was slowing things down when I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard. Turns out the APC software was not yet compatible with Leopard. I deleted the software and problem was solved.
