My 97 GMC 1500 pick-emup truck thinks its hot and miserable so I might as well suffer right along with it. First off I know it not mechanical, if voltage is supplied to the clutch it engages and the system cools fine. I’ve install jumpers on both high and low pressure switches (tested voltage at both switch connectors, is good) , checked fuses, replaced A/C relay in the engine compartment fuse center, nothing. Thermostat? Anyone have a similar experience?

double check where the terminal goes on the compressor clutch... seems like my 97 is the one I remember it getting rubbed and I had to do something to pull it away from the pully and then recover it with liquid tape or the blades been exposed and it would of rubbed the connector in half.

Thanks for the help Rich
The connector checks out. To test the clutch I stripped a little insulation off the clutch exciter wire and jumped it to the battery………..clutch kicks and holds fine

Try disconnecting the battery for 15 seconds to reset the computer. It may have shut down the system due to low pressure and the clutch cycling to fast. INDY
