I need to lower the height of my header trailer. I have 16" wheels on it now. I think they are 235s IIRC. I thought about putting on 15" wheels but to find 8 bolters used that fit a gm axle from the 80's is few and far between. Everyone used 16". Well.... ok.... next step is to find low profile tires, and thats not impossible, but to find ones with a load range D or E rating I don't think is possible.
Anyone have a lead or can point me in a direction of either possibility above?
Thanks.

If you have a 235x85x16 wheel on it now, a 245x75x16 should be shorter by about 1 to 1 1/2 inches...and should be available up to an "E" rating. Back when my dad was driving the hell out of his '94 1-ton Chevy he bought a set of BFG all-terrain 245's about once a year and recycled them to impliment tires.

how heavy is the head and cart? I would think a set of Ford OEM 235/70R16 should hold up fine. Each will hold about 2600-3000lbs...
Guess you actually travel with your cart? First one dad and I made was a little tall so we burned the tires off the rims on one side and remounted the rims and it worked great, but then again it never goes farther than into old freestall barn and back out again, lol.

They do make 215/85R16's...that's about as short as your gonna get on a common tire, and in load range D or E. Most commonly found on 1-ton dually GM's. Those still probably aren't going to be short enough for what you need them to be. Not sure how heavy your head is, but I'd just run the 215/60R16's off a newer car. They'll handle more than you think.

If I can find a pic to post... It's a homemade trailer from pipe and pickup axles. I don't know what a 930 jd rigid weighs but wouldn't 3 to 4 ton cover it? Attachments:

I screwed up welding on these stops and making them solid. I still don't want to torch some height off of them though in case the plat did bounce going down the road. It doesn't that I ever notice but then again I'm not aside it at 65 mph. I'm just going by what I'm seeing in the rear view mirror. Attachments:
