We have Hypertech. Superchips, (which I've used both).. Bully Dog.. and a whole host more of other programmers out there at our disposal.
I'm wanting to get one for the V10 in that newer ford and wake it the hell up.
I've been real happy with the hypertech but that superchips one gave me 3 settings instead of just one like hypertech had. Bullydogs I have heard good things about but the price about made me keel over.
Any other names out there that you guys have rave reviews about on a personal note?

Don't buy a SCT (Super Chip Technologies) programmer. It was a waste of money for me.

What is this V10 you speak of? If it is not a 3 valve, don't bother. Just let it torque for you. I will look into the Ford files and reply again with something useful if it's a 3 valve.

Oh man... IIRC those Diablo's were big $$$ too. I have to do some reasearch on it. I have the superchips programmer for my Dodge diesel now. I like it. Woke that pickup up and brought it to life.

hey rich i know your really pushing getting a programmer have you ever thought about finding a shop around that will just put a tune into your truck i know we have several places around oklahoma i think it is usually aound $200 but it is done by a pro he knows what to do and where to set everything and i mean everything. Just got my 05 Chevy 5.3 done for $200 it went from about a 22 MPG Highway to 26 15 city to 20 City i am really impressed and really brought the truck alive and he put a great shift setup in my Trawnny he says it will help it last longer. I just thought i would Mention it to you

I figured I get a programmer and I could do it all myself and someday when I want to trade, I can set it back to all original and sell the programmer to someone else. Of course, I still have the hypertech programmer to sell from the 97 chevy with the 5.7 and I still havnt' found anyone interested.

i have used several programmers and you can feel the difference but it is nothing compared to a tune put in by a guy that can change everything. I know it is not possible everywhere but if found it will be one of the best ways to go i really enjoy mine and we have all forgot about programmers, It is cheaper and alot easier.

well i think it actually has alot to do with the emmisions because alot of his settings have to do with timing and the all suggest to have a cold air intake and exhaust. I know that my chevy did not come with that stuff also but i think it was a great addition. In my thoughts it just like anything else some people nee3d different things and truck makers try and make the best overall vehicle. I mean my chevy is a 2 wheel drive v8 4 door i do not need a towing compacity or a truck that will spin the tires. so mechanic made a setting for me to drive it down the highway and get the best mileage. but then again if i needed it to tow he would have put other settings in.
I dont know if it is good or bad but i have loved the extra MPG and my buddy has a duramax and i know he loves the shift points changed for the fact he dont ever unhook from a trailer it is just customizing

Another thing to consider is this... Insurance companies.
In 87/88 when Ford and Chevy released the first fuel injected engines in thier pickups, the story I was told.. (and take this however you will but I believe it) was that they were so damn powerful over the old carburated versions that the insurance companies told them to detune them or they wouldn't insure the vehicles.
I know the first 5.7 gm's with TBI could be made to run like a striped ass ape. Imagine todays technology with a free flowing exhaust and the right settings on the fuel injection systems. Hell.. be like adding nos back in the 70's.
Honestly, I can see that having alot of pull on the industry and why vehicles turned loose have thier nuts banded.
One other thing that pisses me off... and flame away because I dont' care....but the speed limiters on these pickups is a crock. 95 mph and it shuts the engine down so you don't go faster. Shit... Hell with that. When I got the hammer down its for a reason and I need to get where I am going fast. I couldn't give a damn less about a ticket at that time frame. One of the other reasons I do like the tuners... you can eliminate the speed limiter and make the bitch run as fast as she'll go.

Rich, my first experience with the damn speed limiters I was passing several cars in a line. Imagine my disgust with an approaching hill and the pants fall off. I thought I blew the frikkin thing up, not to mention I was going to die.
