We are planning on purchasing a new pick up for farm/personnal use. Hubby and I are having a debate concerning cloth or leather seats. Which do you prefer and why?

cloth...not hot or cold when I first get in and are cheaper to repair/replace. In your nice garage wouldn't make such a difference.

Vinyl. Save money and get a base model. Most of them have the necessities, lack the unnecessaries, and do the job exactly as well as the pimped out citiot versions for a lot less coin.

If kids are involved, I'd go with leather. Much, much easier to clean the vast array of "stuff" kids and families with kids pack into a vehicle seat. A little Murphy's Oil soap and then a leather conditioner and no one will ever know you've had kids in the pickup. Edit: on 2nd thought, I should have said "If kids or Farmers are involved". .. .. .. .. .. .. I well remember the days of packing syringes in the seat between us and finding out later that they leaked.

My wifes last 3 trucks have had leather and she loves it. It may be because of the heated seat in winter. I wish I would have gotten leather when I bought my last truck but I bought it of the lot and the price was rite. Leather is much easier to keep clean. Larry

Ever noticed on all cloth seats that you can always tell exactly where a person sat because the "V" between thier legs contains all the food and drink they have spilled over the last 50,000 miles?
Get leather. Easier to clean. Looks nice. Lasts longer and doesn't really cost that much more. If your getting a new pickup that option is chump change to the whole package price.

I'm as cheap as anybody, but I despise cheap seats in anything. I try to keep covers on them and they still get worn out. Never had leather, but I'm thinking it would be worth it for durability in the long run if you drive your vehicles until you park them in the tree row. And if you trade before that time, a good seat should hold it's value better than the el cheapo model.

Larry We had a Dodge Avenger with cloth seats that were heated. We now have one with leather and nobody seems to think it is as comfortable as the cheaper interior was. From having one other truck with leather I would have to say I like it, but I don't mind cloth at all. I don't care for vinyl.

I like cow peelings. But in cars in the cold cow peelings don't feel comfortable to me.
So far the butt warmer seats I have sat in just made me mad. Haven't sat in a good one yet. But I haven't sat in very many either.
I would just sit in both on a helluva cold day and pick the one that is most comfortable.

If you shuffle and move around a lot the leather ones make a sound like you farted and I like that.
