I'm looking for a stock tank valve that I recall seeing in a farm mag a number of years ago. It fills the tank from the bottom, and is pressure sensitive (in other words, when you set the pressure correctly, as cattle drink, the valve will open up, and refill the tank until it is full again). I'd like such a device as it would be easier to keep the cattle away from it. If anyone can provide a link, I would appreciate it. tia.
P.S. I have a Rubbermaid tank.

Seems go me that NASCO carried something like that. Also had a tamper proof float valve that might do what you are looking for. Had a float on a chain to activate the valve. Theory was that since it wasn't on a rod, a cow couldn't push it down with her nose, it would just move around instead.

I'm not sure what they're called, but what your looking for is one of two valve options in the Cobett waterers.
iirc: these types of valve are extremely sensitive to small dirt particles in the water. They don't shut off worth a hoot if you've got dirty water.

Ones like in the link are common out here in the hills. www.westernranchsupply.com/blowup.php3?item_id=4526There are several manufacturers. Usually the well guys around here carry them and are easy to find. But we tend to use big 18' + diameter bottomless tanks and never have a problem with cattle messing with them. I have also used Jobe valves in situations with smaller tanks. The problem with the valves in the above link is if the tank gets empty they spray water all over. In situations with small tanks and lots of cattle that can get a tank empty sometimes use the Jobe valve as they don't spray water in the air. Jobe valves: www.jobevalves.com/megaflow.htmlGood luck.

Thanks for the post Sandbox.
That was a Jobe valve I was thinking of in my post, just hadn't looked it up.
