What's the crop conditions around Rend Lake ? Specifically the west side around Sesser ? Located 35 miles northwest of that location. Have not been thru that area recently. From discussion with those that I know in the area it's a lot like here. Excess moisture thru wheat harvest and since then it's been hit and miss for rainfall. Any crops in low land along creeks or other tributaries were flooded with some being replanted to soybeans. The recent heat was tough on those who did not get the recent rains as most crops are shallow rooted due the early heavy rains. Ten miles northwest of here it's gotten so dry the lawns are dead. Ten miles south of here they've gotten plenty rain and lawns are still growing strong. A month ago you could not drive thru the yard for fear of getting stuck. Double crop beans that were difficult to get seeded due to wet conditions are now needing rain. Take a look at rainfall totals shown here. water.weather.gov/precip/This general area is about equal in rainfall for the last sixty to ninety days however there is significant variation in the last 30 days. Looks like the Sesser area might be doing okay.

Thanks guys , my folks who live on the farm will only tell me how tall whatever crop that is growing is , and when I get a hold of my tenant he's kind of evasive like he's afraid to make a guess but I know he's on top of it . Flooding is seldom a problem for that hilly clay ground but dry really hurts it . If it gets enough rain to put moisture in the ground the seed slots won't hardly close makes for some interesting times .

I would bring some rain if I had any extra , last night an 80% chance evaporated before it got anywhere near here. The only time I can guarantee to bring a rain down there is when I plan a hunting trip or plan on going jugging on the lake .
