This will be the second cutting, first cutting was 4 bales per acre, this cutting will be at least 3, started out with about 110 units of N. Question is how much N should I put on after we get it cut? First cutting was July 10th. If we can get this cutting up on time there will be a possible 2 cuttings left with adequate rain. The motorcyclce is not for sale it's just there for height comparrison. Attachments:

I thought maybe the motorcycle was lost since the last cutting grew back and you just located it. That would be a heck of a surprise to find with the swather! ;D

Depends on what you're doing with it I guess. If you're after tonnage let it freeze, if you want quality cut just before heading. But, I'm sure you already knew that. lol.

will probably wet wrap due to drying conditions in the fall, just do not know how much quality will be lost if it is allowed to head.

I'm sure sudan grass is better than cane but I have had cane that headed out, test worse than wheat straw. If you're wanting quality I say cut it just as a few heads are popping out.
