friend of mine pulls a 4 shank 10-12" deep with a warm CIH 7120 mfd tractor. says its all it wants.

They're very popular around here. Maintenance is not bad, They do have more wear parts than a regular ripper but they last a good while. Minimum of 40 hp per shank in our soil, 50 better.

We used to rent a old tye one that was set up like a plow. It was four shanks on 160hp and was all it wanted but we have some pretty tough soils. I personally liked it better than a ripper . It disturbed less topsoil and I always thought it was doing more underneath than a regular ripper.

We've run em 20 years. work great in a min til program. 6 shanks is max on a big MFWD and sometimes too much.
