I've got a one-way cylinder with OUT a breather, that won't go to the end of it's stroke. Not sure, but I 'think' oil leaked past the internal seal and is now on the wrong side of the piston.
Any simple way to correct this problem. I've had a ratchet strap applying a significant amount of pressure overnight with no success.

No breather?? I'd crack the end and bleed out the cylinder. I'd agree, probably fluid leaked behind the seal. You won't "press" it back around the seal.

Dave, only one problem, this is a welded cylinder with only one port -- where the hose attaches. And i don't have any idea how it was put together in the first place. Guess I'll probably be finding out though. AC, that link only showed me I might order a replacement. Nothing in FAQ's to help. thanks anyway. I'll try a pic. [/img]

Well duh , I suggest getting a new one. LOL dam it, it can't be so difficult to fix that I need a new one. It don't leak externally, and it was in pieces to begin with before it was assembled, so it will be again -- at least before I buy a new one. hehehe

Yeah.... that would have been an important bit of information to have at the start. I'd say you are screwed with a welded cylinder. Buy a new cylinder. by the looks of it, the trapped fluid wont allow you to fold all the way up? I say have a breather port installed in the captive end. But then you might find ot you have a leaky piston seal.... BTDT.

Paint isn't covering the seam where the endcap was screwed on is it ? They couldn't have welded it after assembly could they ?

drill and tap a hole, no breather? either add one or plug it off with a bolt. does it again, remove bolt and drain out.

Breather on woods mower is on the bottom. If it doesn't have one then make one.
