The irrigated looks really good around here and the dryland that is on the better soils looks good. Dryland on weaker soils is pretty bad. I've been hearing about all the problems elsewhere and expecting cotton to make another big run but supply and demand don't seem to matter much any more.

Doc, I am about 30 miles or so from fivelock, and ditto to what he said. There is some cotton south of him, east of me, that was bloomed out 3 weeks ago. (Right at Clayton, fivelock). It is less than knee-high. Yield potential is crap. I havent looked at that cotton in about a week, but with the recent rainy season we have been experiencing I would imagine the cotton has some regrowth.

Made a trip from 50 miles south of Amarillo down to Comanche Tx. this past weekend driving through the area typically know as the largest cotton patch. There is no dry land that will make and the little bit of irrigated appears to have about 50% of typical production. The only exception is the few acres of drip which look very good for this year and may make close to average yields. Some of the best cotton is around south of Tulia and Plainview and then some around Post that is drip. Going to be a short and early cotton harvest around here form what I saw.

pic today notice the yellowish look this is on some of the sandiest dirt farmed anywhere. Got 2 in rain just as I was done irrigating. This field has 2 tons chicken litter (3-2.5-3),100 units of n , 60 units of k and is following peanuts. also used 3 gals of telone and pulled pigweeds by hand. No wonder im broke Attachments:
