dman ourc co-ops pay the 20% if you are lucky some pay nothing infact I think they would like to send their patrons a bill instead of dividends. But that one is not the one I do business with. I got screwed on the feed end also, by a local company selling Purina FOO fFOO DUST. Thisd purina fat product was the greatest feed improvement since cows came ot of that woodland pasture. But every thing they promised, I got the oposite. I nearly went broke That Purina feed cost me way more then feeding components and of course it cost a lot more. i AND THE purina dealer had an all out war, I was not a happy camper I lost, sorta, but sure got an education. I figure I,m a lot smarter then a lot of the co-op people so I got a better chance of coming out ahead.
I might go to the company that Kwestfarms uses. I,m not sure ifb John patronises the company in loyal which is pretty good but lost their best agronomist or if he patronises Larry who would screw his mother even if she had been dead for years

Lafarmer, you need to get TO35 over hear on AAF. I pick and choose regarding fert, chem, seed. I go with the cheapest dealer on fertilizer and generic herbicides. I buy seed and Roundup from dealer who has best customer service because of Roundup Rewards on seed. Lots of paper work on Drought claims and Crop Destruct claims on tech fees with Monsanto, especially this year, so need a dealer that stays on top of that.

I'm the same as Mrgrinch. There is lots of paperwork on the seed and RU side that needs to be done right and on time. Used a different seed dealer last year and it almost cost me big time on a claim. Lesson learnd.

Great thread starter lafarmer345.
I can only speak for chemicals on this farm. I buy chemicals for 2 neighbors, dad, grandpa and myself. Totalling 2500 acres.
I generally get quotes from a minimum of two different suppliers for a long list of chemicals. I play the prepayment game big time. For my neighbors, I saved them in chemicals what an application would cost to do, easily. Your Co-ops make their money on chemicals Not the application. I am the opposite. I WILL NOT pick up any orders that I am unaware of the price of.
By combining these multiple smaller farmers into a bigger farmer we have capitalized on volume discounts. I get a little more efficient at tracking seasonal prices of multiple different chemicals each year. I've already bought and have on farm my corn chemicals for next season. Big time bargains this past january.
I could go on and on.

Thanks John! You get what you pay for. lol! Someday I can only hope to have the knowledge Ken has.
ECI, it would be a priviledge to run the modern monster you got out there. I wouldn't know what to do with all that POWER! Thanks for the kind words. Would love to have you for a neighbor.
Ole Patriot did manage 7500 acres of spraying with no problems. Thinking of running it again next year. Only .17 an acre in repairs and .64 an acre in fuel. Been paid for for 3 years. Hate to get rid of the money maker that is paying off my farm!

fertilizer is from co-op only because of location. it don't make sense to drive an extra 15 miles to to save $5 a ton. seed usually from 2 people. on sudangrass one tried to overprofit and priced elswhere and he came down. it's best to shop before you buy so you don't get the wood. by the way la345 could you send some of that water back that we sent you a while back, our sloughs are dry and the topsoil is rolled up.

Hey RCR or ECI,,need a witches brew to get rid of johnson grass,, hope you can help,,,, Tom Boy Tom that's some bad stuff ! We have shatter cane around here and that can be about as bad . I have use'd this the last three years and have had great results with it . i don't know where your at , so hate to tell you what rates is right for your area . i used Guardsman Max and added 1.25 ozs of Resolve Q at preemergence , the good thing is you can apply up to 12 inchs on the corn . This will help hold it and then clean up with what RCR said , that is a great progam . Good luck , Ken BTW i don't know if Sutan is still around but we rented a farm that j-grass bad , I laid down a past of sutan and worked it in and the came right back with the second pass and worked that in , man oh man that did the trick lol but that was many moons ago , lol
