Have went away from row starter and think I want to go back to it. I had been dry forever until I quit it a few years back. My old 5100 white planter does a great job for me and my situation. If you were starting from scratch with a 2x2 liquid system for it what would you use for a pump and flow dividing system? Ground drive vs chain from the old dry transmission? I thought I could drop the tubes into the old double disc dry openers. I'm looking for ideas if anyone has any opinions they would like to share. Thanks, Joe

depending on the size of your planter, an electric pump would probably be cheapest. Plumbing wise, do your homework and it really isnt that difficult to put in some orifices and run some lines. I think shoup sells a liquid tube for the double disk openers on deeres, dont know about whites.

On the White you do just as you described with the openers. When I had a white years ago we ran a John Blue squeeze. I have several off John deeres. Should be the same if you need one. Alot of guys like the diaphragm pumps . They work well also.

Hotrod I don't want to sound like a smart azz here or anything but....if you would drop your planter down when you need to fill up you wouldn't need that ladder.
You're welcome.

The ladder is to get my short fat ass in and out of the wagon to sweep it out. I'm kinda really anal retentive about cleanliness. I wish my old man had been like that, that planter/wagon wouldnt be a rusted out mess. I dont want an end transport... I am looking to go to a 12 row, I dont plant as straight as my old man did and he always planted the corn. I have a 6 row corn head....sooooo....... I do load the planter on the ground.

Let me know what you want for it when you want to say good by. I've got a nice 12 HYD fold around. Can't put dry on with them. Might have a front fold coming in late fall.

Set up a lot of planters. For that planter I like the dependability of the john blue thumper pump. Depending what your wanting to run. I prefer to run 2 liquid system. 32% & thiosulphate 2x2 and 6-24-6 plus micro 's in furrow.
