Robinson Cano...second baseman for the Yankees. That was a pretty good story as well...his dad pitched for him in the derby...goin back to the days when you were in your backyard playin catch n whatnot with your dad.

I enjoy good ole' mom, apple pie, and baseball, likely not quite as much as some, and certainly not as much as that dude at some HR derby the other day that nearly fell to his death just trying to catch a ball. Just how much are those balls worth anyway that one would risk his "LIFE" for one? OR, was there some alcheehol involved in the whole scheme of things?

If you're talking about the guy who fell at the Rangers game last week........ he died. Really bad deal when you're trying to catch a souvenier for your kid and go over the rail. I hope there wasn't alcohol involved in that situation.
And I agree with you..... I love baseball but I'm not diving or trampling over someone to get a baseball. If I would be lucky enough to nab one fair and square, fine, but I'm not gonna put myself in the ER or hospital for one.

Yeah, I read about the one that didn't make it. It really tore up the Ranger player emotionally, and I think it was just a tossed ball that caused his fall. Right after, there was another "near" fall at another game, thought it was one of those HR derbys, maybe not.

Right after, there was another "near" fall at another game, thought it was one of those HR derbys, maybe not. At the home run derby, there were two incidents. First one a guy did fall over the fence but was caught by people near him by the drawers and/or ankles. Shortly after that, a guy jumped and grabbed a ball and landed in the swimming pool in the outfield. NUTS!

Too bad Gambi is a CUBS fan....... they give up a lot more throw back HR's than they hit.
