So,Mr bible guy,why is it Gods will when infants die,but not in the case of abortion?Why should Gods will make you feel better if he just killed someone you loved?

Marland, is there something you need to be telling your wife? You are more into the gays business than most straight people I know I'm not going to argue bible passages with you as I'm no bible scholar. I'm just sticking to what I first said. If they want a civil union, a life partner or what ever fine................in my eyes they will never be married.

I stopped over at NAT, and as no surprise there is a long thread on this over there in the BR.
The argument over there is that the court would be infringing on church rights if folks are forced to accept gay marriage.
That said, there must be pigs flying because I agree with Iowabearcat for a change.
This is his post: "Who cares what the bible says. Let the churches call it marriage, the govt should recognize all as civil unions".

I'm not actually defending gay Rights, I'm against hypocracy by those who will use the Bible to defend their positions as long as it's convenient and ignore it when it's not .
Christians are claiming marriage to be theirs , so Mark do you refuse to recognize Muslim, Hindu etc marriages as not valid ? What about mine , no Church or Bible's magical incantation involved . Do you recognize it ?
You didn't answer earlier so I'll rephrase since the church is the authority on marriage according to you. if you get married in a church, with the magic spell, but no license, are you still married ?
I'll defer to a phrase I read or heard somewhere sometime , " We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. --That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed," Nothing about Equal if the Bible says so or if someone's narrow view allows it .

There are a lot of Quakers around here,they seem to be pretty liberal and accept people s ways. They are pacifists,though,I know some hunt,but I dont know about pacifists carrying pistols.

Let me first say that I'm not some religious zealot. I guess I could be called a back sliding Quaker. I was raised Quaker (every Sunday)....when I got older I stopped going to church. I can't quote bible scripture and verse, but I do know a lot about the Friends teachings, and I try to live a christian life. I know the Friends do not believe in baptism, they believe in silent meditation instead of Communion (a 20 min. silent period is tough on a young kid), they believe in personal confession (don't need a preacher to talk to God) they believe Heaven and Hell is a individual interpretation, and like 420 said they are pacifists. (he mentioned hunting....that is fine, they just will not take up arms in time of war or fight back) They will serve in the military but not carry arms. I lost a good friend, from our church, in Nam, he served as a CO but was a medic. The name Quaker comes from the Indians who would attack Friends churches....they didn't understand why the churchgoers would not fight back....they just sat there and quaked in fear. Friends felt no matter what happened...it would be in Gods hands in the end. When I was young I had a lot of problem with the not defending your self teachings (still do). Quakers have always been leaders in civil rights issues.....most abolitionist were Quakers....they have always been against slavery. Like I said, at best I'd be a back sliding Quaker, but I've always remained true to their core beliefs when someone asked me about my religion. It's probably a poor reason, but Quakers are probably as close to a live and let live church philosophy as there is., and that is why I have identified with them. One of my best friends grew up Baptist (also a backslider)....he said that they tried to scare him into being good. My wife is Catholic (another backslider), and the best as I can understand her religion.......She can murder someone today...be in confession tomorrow and all is good. (I mean no offense to anyone's religion) I also noticed that I'm surrounded by backsliders So back to the gays marrying. AJ says that they don't want to be in a separate class...........hell that is what they have done to themselves with 'Gay Pride Day". Its the same as having a "Miss Black USA"....a separate pageant a separate class. I've done a little reading today, and I know more about the Supreme Court case...................that elderly lady got screwed big time by the state on inheritance taxes. That needs to be stopped. What I don't like, is if gays can marry, then they can sue any church that refuses to marry them....and that is wrong!!! I think, as far as the government is concerned, we all should have a "civil union" with everyone having the same LEGAL rights. Government should get out of the marriage side of it, that is between you, your mate, and your church. If a gay couple can find a church that will marry them fine (maybe the Quakers will now, but I don't think the ones here will...they have a lot of local control). But as I've said, to me, marriage is one woman and one man.

Look at the ALL the pomp and circumstance when they Roll Out the Pope-Mobile. So, No backslider, it dont. Hell, the homos will have a party for ANY reason...sometimes all it it takes is the purchase of a new lamp or toaster...... and its like a freaking news years eve party in 1999 ;D ;D ;D ;D
