An impasse over the shape of the federal budget keeps boiling down to this basic plotline: Democrats say the solution to high deficits must include more tax revenue, while Republicans say the fundamental problem is spending.
Failure to reach a middle ground has prompted automatic spending cuts known as the “sequester” to go into effect. This wasn’t Plan A, or even Plan B, for either side.
As the politicians look for a way forward, conservative lawmakers say that new budget projections make their case for them. Federal tax revenue is forecast to hit a record $2.7 trillion this year, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

Just hard to believe any specific cuts will be made in any areas.......announce a plan one item and all those affected scream in pain !!! Cutting a percentage of everything may be only way.....keeping in mind , so far cuts were just a cut in planned increase; not an actual cut in last years spending. John

I dont know where the tea party faction is,I mean, why isn't someone getting specific-start with welfare and the farm program and about 50% of the military budget,I would vote for that guy. It's amazing that no one runs on that, the demoncrats got the oposite plan staked out-might as well try something different.

420 : I am probably wrong [it happens a lot ] but its my opinion that the tea party is all about "No new taxes or increases in existing taxes " and thats about all !! They don't care to much about cutting spending because cuts would affect the people that voted them in.......and therefore would affect their chances of getting voted in again. The only way they can hold their group together is gather around the no new taxes idea and not go for specific cuts affecting some or many of their districts. JOHN

They are mostly retired or getting ready to retire, and want their social secuity and they want the government to be solid enough so their savings and investments will see them through. Basicly, they are like 90% of Americans and dont care about anyone else.
