Byron York listens to Republican governors talk about the irresponsible Kenyan-born Marxist in the White House who's making their states suffer under mandatory sequestration cuts.
"I think the president is trying to force us into a false choice," Jindal said. "The reality is, there is no reason for these cuts to be made this way." Obama could instruct his Cabinet to emphasize cuts to spending on things like consultants, Jindal said, and not on things like Head Start. "It is the president's job as the chief executive to prioritize." South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said the governors asked Obama to come up with better cuts, or even to delay future spending, like the Medicaid expansion in Obamacare, if the budget situation is as dire as the administration says. "The answer to everything we got was no," Haley said. Jindal said that, huh? Well, it's almost the fourth anniversary of this.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal announced Friday that he will decline stimulus money specifically targeted at expanding state unemployment insurance coverage, becoming the first state executive to officially refuse any part of the federal government’s payout to states. Let's be fair: The stimulus fight of 2009 was the first semi-schism between congressional Republicans and Republicans in the states. The vast majority of Republican governors dropped the pretense that their states are laboratories of Horatio Alger-ism that don't need federal money to pay for services. They took the stimulus money. But opposition to the stimulus has become a badge of honor, as we can see in this ad for Nikki Haley's mentor.
There's some consistency between 2009 Jindal and 2013 Jindal. He wants federal money, which comes from taxpayers in 49 other states, to be given back to Louisiana in a form the state has more control over.

The "Chimp in Charge" needs to cause the American people as much pain as he can with this. He can then turn around and blame the Rep's for all the problems.
I think Obummer has one thing on his mind.....one thing to accomplish in the next two years.
He will keep campaigning (just like he has). His only goal is to make sure he lays all the blame for any and all problems, any thing that goes wrong, at the feet of the Republicans.
If he can do this......................and get total control of the congress in two years..............he can move his socialist plan for this country forward with no one standing in his way.
Some may say why didn't he do this his first two years.................I answer "because he wanted to get reelected".

So,all I hear on the internet is how obama is ruining the country, and blaming it on the rethuglicans. Doesnt that mean that everybody on the internet is indeed blaming obama? Besides the article is about republicans who are changing their minds about government spending, so THEY can get reelected. Rethuglikkens are as bad as dems.

Rethuglikkens are as bad as dems. I almost agree with that. Both sides are a bunch of power seeking idiots. All Obama wants is tax increases. R's have backed down and given him the increase with a promise to cut spending in the future..........now the future is here and he wants more tax increases. I think it's a smart move to give him the rope and say here.....you decide where the cuts are made when we sequester (sp?). That said I still think Obama is the worse this country has ever seen. He is a socialist.............go back and look at his speeches, writings and interviews before he was a member of congress. People might change, but not that much. I agree with the libertarian party (the Wayne county party chairmen is a school chum and poker buddy of mine). Look at Wayne county's record for the Lib's....first judge in the U.S. and several offices filled. I've stood in the rain, at polling places campaigning, and given money to the party. But on the national level I fear Obama enough I will not let a Lib candidate pull a Ross Perow (sp) and give Obamer a vote (even though it didn't matter). I have to back the Rep's on this current fight......if we sequester we will at least cut some spending (maybe, I think it actually only applies to the future budget, so it all could mean nothing)

I cant get your link to work, but I dont care how hard he hammers the farmers or the military for that matter,we need to cut everything about 30%. Why would republicans want him to pick places to cut? Probly because they dont want to cut anything either. We got here because everybody looks to the government to take care of poor people and old people. Why any business person would expect the government to guarantee them a living is crazy, but we have subsidies- and unemployment for 2 years, why cant people be responsible for their own living-buy their own health care-save for their retirement-take care of their parents, etc, when did we as a nation decide this was shit the government did?

The payroll tax went up 2% on every working American starting 1-1-13. For a person earning 50K/year that means $83/week less in their pay check.

The TEMPORARY pay roll tax holiday was a compromise bill passed by Obama and republicans in 2010. 3020 you may want to go back to grade school language class and learn the word TEMPORARY again. Upon looking at your math you should retake 4th grade basic percentage math and primary algebra. I bet you are an expert on filling out the forms to get your govment mooch money insurance money and getting your routing number correct for your USDA direct deposit.

I believe some people wanted the "Temporary payroll tax holiday " to become permanent and thereby hasten the demise of the SS program. To remain viable into the future [ 50-60 years or so] SS needs an increase in funds. Could be accomplished a number of ways....Raising retirement age ayear or two , increasing the wage level that is required to pay SS tax or means testing at some high level of wealth or income.
OK...there it is...fire away John

Nobody will be able to fix social security till the baby boomers die.Raising retirement ages means people hold on to their jobs longer, and those older workers are paid more than their replacements.Means testing punishes success. I think putting seniors on an ice flow is looking like the best solution.
