Just got our new to us Drago head. Went from a 1063 to this one.
Anyone have any experience with one? How different a job does it do chopping stalks and what not compared to the IH head.

I have not been around one in person, but I have a few info DVD's and it looks like they are top notch, heavy built heads. Do you have the chopping option? The stalk condition as witnessed in the video looks to be excellent (as in broken up/shredded) and the longer snapping rolls and deck plates should let you run the head slower so you don't get as much bounce or butt shelling. Might want to do some research of what parts to keep on hand if you dont have a close outlet for them. Other than that you'll love it I bet.
Oh, what size is it? 8R30?

8/30. Went from a 6/30 IH head. Got RTK this year for the planter so decided to go this route.
No chopper on it. It's green, goin on a 2188...maybe planning ahead for a green machine...lol. The dealer is 20 minutes away, good parts support...so we'll see I guess.

Ordered a new non chopping 8-30 last August and it came in time to harvest a little over 100 acres. Really liked the longer rollers and the slower speed, not nearly the ear bounce. Auto deck plates worked real well in the dry corn. Lower profile cuts stalks lower than my old CIH. Stalk stompers will go on before I start this fall. I would say there is not much difference in how the stalks were chopped if you are comparing a new Drago and a new CIH. Really quiet and smooth. I never had poly or header control and that is a nice upgrade.
Head is on a 2188 and when raised going down the road is probably 8-10 inches lower than the 1083. A little tough when meeting someone on a narrow road.
