Has anyone converted an old propane tank for use as diesel tank? I've got access to a 500 gallon propane tank that had a tree fall on it and broke one of the valves off. I'm not scared of cutting on it or welding in new fittings for filling, drain, and pump mount, just wondering how 'clean' the inside of the tank would be to start with. Don't want a potential headache down the road.

I've seen them around here . LP tanks can collect some black crud in the bottom over a period of time.
Cutting and welding on LP no problem either fill with water or run a hose from an exhaust pipe into it for a while.
I brought a 1000 gal above gas tank after draining the gas out filled it with water and cut a hole on top and welded a collar in it.
