I am finally going to buy a smart phone. I still have the old candybar Nokia. I wish any phone is half as tuff as that thing!
Straight Talk has came out with a smart phone that works in my area (Verizon) The phone is a Samsung Galaxy Proclaim (3G) that they sell for $180. The reason I am looking at Straight Talk is their unlimited plan is $45/mo. with no contract. Cannot get ATT or Sprint "here".
Tell me why I should stay away. I already know that "Unlimited data" on Straight Talk using ATT is about 2GB. Don't know what Verizon's limit will be.
I could stay with Verizon, but their plan cost $100/mo. with 2GB data. I would have more choices of phones (Galaxy S III, Razr Maxx & iphone 4s also cost me $180 but 2 year plan.)
Don't have 4G yet so I could get by with cheaper phone but I assume 4G will get here someday.
$55/mo. difference sounds like a lot of money = $1320 plus extra taxes over the 2 years. Tell me again why I should stay away

The only part of this that I can reply to is the Samsung aspect. I have a galaxy epic and covered it from day one in a Otter Box and it's taken a beating. I've dropped it twice getting in and out of my truck at work, (tractor trailer) onto concrete and it's survived unscathed both times. I've dropped it several more times standing on the ground and no problems. All in all I like the phone, with the exception that if you're using a bluetooth and want to voice dial, you need to wake the phone up, then unlock it before you can start.
I've found a few 4g spots and it's awsome when it's available, but they're few and far between here on the east coast. Even NYC including central park don't have it.
Good luck.

I had a phone that everytime I dialed a number it was like where did that number come from... seemed like I couldn't hit the right digit.... I slamed it to the floor (concrete) and it flew into several pieces...
It was a razor and it didn't work to good after that.
Maybe concrete makes some phones work better.
