....................behind the tires of the tractor on a splitter planter.
They don't come up as good there at times (rain after planting before they emerge..etc.)
Any ideas that might help (in No-till on corn stalks). Planting deeper...shallower???

I run spiked closing wheels. That seams to help.
I have seen more of a problem this year. Probably the dry weather. IDK

I always run a notch or two deeper behind the tires.

We run them a little deeper to, but this year that didn't seem to help after it got dry.

Mine seem to be coming up terribly. Doesn't seem to matter where they are, behind the wheels or not. I just checked some more extremely thin stands this morning and there are a lot of new ones just emerging now after that good rain a week and a half ago, so I'm hoping the final stand will be good enough. Just was too dry and hard when we planted and the ground is still very hard.
