My lawn mower has a briggs Intek V twin and the battery is not charging. Already put a new battery in and can run the mower for about two hours and then the battery is completly dead. How do these engines charge the battery?

It charges off a stator and regulator system but there should be a fuse inline somewhere that could be the culprit or a long shot would be the guage is bad and not telling it to charge .

Marland could not find a fuse. Have a heavy gauge wire coming off the positive to a selonid (?) with two wires (black and red) going to the ingnition and the same heavy wire going to the starter. Also one small red wire coming from underneath the plastic cowling where the fan is going back to the ignition. Thats all I see execpt for wires going to the lights and safety switches

Most likely your voltage regulator is bad. I have an old Woods mower that does the same thing every couple years.
