Kubota RTV 900.
Power steering quit --- completely quit to the left and is steering 'marginally' to the right. Fluid level and filters are okay.
With it shut down and the front wheels off the ground -- the front wheels can be turned by hand back to the left ... but only as far as they would have been turned if the steering was working properly. In other words, if the steering wheel is turned all the way to the right (to the lock), the front wheels won't turn back to the left at all. If the steering wheel is rotated back to approximately what would be straight, the wheels can be turned by hand back to 'straight'. If steering wheel is turned all the way to the left (to the lock) the wheels will go all the way left by hand. ... but with the motor running, it does absolutely nothing on it's own to the left, but will turn fully to the right.
Just seems odd. I've never experienced anything like this as it didn't get gradually worse, it happened all at once.
Is this a problem with the steering motor (under the steering wheel) or the steering cylinder (controlling the tie rods)?

Wierd, almost sounds like some kind of keyway sheared out.

If the tierod cylinder isnt bent or leaking anything I would go with the motor first.

it's the steering motor ... not running -- tires on the ground ... the steering wheel has no feel to the left and tires don't move, and somewhat normal feel to the right and tires turn to the right. No parts sold for rebuild ... $500+ for new steering motor. I guess that actually shouldn't shock me.

I would pop the old one open and see if it isnt a o-ring or something. Long shot but you never know.
