"Kinda wish I could put out N with the pivot, but none of our pivots really lay correctly for that." Josh, not trying to be stupid, but how can a pivot not lay right for application of N? I do quite a bit of fertigating on all sorts of pivots and can't think why you couldn't as long as you had a pump and a backflow protector.

I do quite a bit of fertigating on all sorts of pivots and can't think why you couldn't as long as you had a pump and a backflow protector. Perhaps a picture will help. I cross 3 ponds with two different pivots and in order to somewhat make my rotation I have to divide up my pivots and all my fields are on contour. It would take several thousands of dollars with variable rate technology to accomidate fertigation for me. Attachments:

Maybe this picture illustrates it a little better. One 3 tower pivot below the chicken houses making 2/3 a circle, a 5 tower directly across the road that crosses 2 ponds and a water way, a 4 tower to the east of it, 4 and 5 tower overlap over the waterway, about 7 acres, and though it isn't in the picture, we share a 3 tower directly east of the 4 tower that crosses the third pond, right on the line, we pump the water, they pay for the pivot.

Understood. Standing water isn't a problem in my part of the world

Those strips look good. Keep in mind that "here" more seed will come up than conventional. I think you may feel different when you see how your corn responds. Hope you saved some conventional to compare it with ?

Here it doesn't matter so much, the subsoiling part is much more important. Actually last year was so hot some of the later planted peanuts weren't germinating because they were being parched in the ground. My bigger problem the way it is now is holding the planter on the strips. All the corn is sprouted now, need to get some pics of it.
