Was going to have a pull behind twin row planter built, but quality local 6 row 30 has come up for sale. Trying to decide which way to go. With the twins I do not need a new corn head, but I have not heard whether twins are equal or better than 30 s. Twins would be 38 or 36 in rows.

My opinion, owning a twin row, if you have the luxury to switch spacings, I would go 30. I think there might be a little better growth potential in twins, but 30 is going to be less hassle and less maintenance, even with buying another corn head. I don't really have the luxury of switching spacings here, as EVERYONE here is on 36", mind you, been plenty of people here that have grown 200 plus corn on 36" rows.

So far , from what I read.... twin rows on 30" centers have not shown any yield advantage over 30" rows (except maybe on those farms that have spent the big money on new twin planters ). Got to justify investment somehow !!!!!! John

I think im going to go look at the planter. It looks as if 38 twins probably equal 30 in spacing-to me at least. Have to figure out what a good 963 corn head will cost too..
