560 gas, why, couse I was gone and came home and hte tractor was gone, clutch was shot and hydraulics quit working, had a factory wide front, sold to slavage yard for 700 bucks, hell the wide front was worth that, and i still wonder if the filter just needed changing, Id a give Grandpa 700 for it and fixed it my self.

Wish I still had my 4640 that I learned to do field work on. It was a pulling sob sitting on 42" firestone radials and dynoed at 210. Had 16.5x16.1 five ribs and black rubber deere front fenders. Quad range. I loved that tractor, but to move up to a 4650 we had to trade it. MFWD and powershift were worth. The 4020 will never leave!!!!!!

JD 8020 4x4, 60s screaming jimmy model.(# 56 I think) Dad’s first new tractor. ( thinks he paid 13k for it new/demo) I Have no idea how many hours was on it but we rebuild that 6-71 3 times, never touched axels or tranny. Needed to pay some bills in the 90s and had to let it go for 15k. Thought we did ok until I was looking for a pic to use in this post and run across a sale report, one was sold at auction Oct. 2,2010 for $90,000. @$#$%&$@!!^%$$#@^ …..I need a beer!! blog.machinefinder.com/2761/rare-1964-john-deere-4wd-tractor-sells-for-90kIIRC ended up somewhere Iowa. Dad's Farmall 504, he sold it before I was born, but that was one of his favorite tractors. Diesel, clamshell fenders, wide front, and 5/5 shuttle transmission, would be a rare tractor today. Had a cracked block that migrated into the oilpan. He traded it for a Massey 298, should have probably kept it as well, it was traded on a Massey 399 with a cab. I traded it a few years ago to get the engine work done on our 1100. Hindsight says I should have probably kept it as I ended up going back and buying a John Deere 4030, which is more tractor, but for the price I think I could have fixed the 399's problems, which were many,(needed new tires, new fuel tank, new radiator, new cab kit, new seat, and the AC system COMPLETELY redone) for about the same money. All water under the bridge now. Biggest thing is I tend to get attached to my equipment, for better or worse, dad is about the same way.

Not a single one. I am 100% unsentimental when it comes to equipment. I don't feel any differently about my tractors than I do about my air compressor, my welder or my lawn mower. Just a tool I use in my operation.
