Saw an artical in the Progressive Dairyman about a dairy that among other things was feeding sugar beets to their dairy cows. Said that they blended it in somehow with their corn silage, really didn't go into specifics in the article. Did I understand it correctly. Just caught my attention, but it looks like it would be kinda expensive feed. I still want to know why there seems to be no interest in using sugarbeets for ethanol, but that is another discussion.

we get beet pulp in the winter when they are prossing beets into sugar by the 50 ton semi load, we add this to the corn silage to help our feed last longer, was paying 25 a ton delivered

This sounded like they were using the raw unprocessed beets. Claimed to grow several hundred acres and harvested same time as silage harvest. I've heard about feeding beet pulp, citrus pulp was real popular years ago but I think shipping KOed it here, seems like gin trash took its place.
