There are lots of choices, I have looked at the Nooks, Kindles, androids, Ipaid... I would spend the money on the i pad if I had to decide today... should I do it or wait for the Ipaid 3?

Wait for the iPaid 3. If whatever new things it has over the 2 don't impress you, the 2 will likely be lowered in price and you can save yourself enough to buy a few new Waves.

I bought a kindle 3G for the wife a couple years ago. If you are looking strictly for an e-reader, you probably can't go wrong with the kindle line.
It has limited browsing capability, but the ability to sit on a beach and download books, games, and magazines is, well, amazing.
If you have any plans to use it for anything more than an e-reader, go with the ipad.

I agree with Dave. If all you want to do is read books on it, the Kindle DX cannot be beat. The screen is MUCH easier on the eyes than a backlit screen. I bought my wife a Kindle about a year ago and she loves it.

The ease of reading is what blew me away on the kindle. It's just like reading a printed page.
The downside is in low light, you need to light the screen to read it. We have a jacket for it with an extendable reading light, or have to sit near a lamp.
She now wants the DX.....

I know nothing about a kindle, but the reason I like my Nook is that I read at night and I don't have to have a light on to read it. But I think Amazon has more book choices vs. Barnes and Nobles.

My wife loves here Kindle Fire... Wish she'd let me root it and turn it into a tablet. But she won't let me touch it.
