It began today on the north farm, looks like the rains are over for us.

Do you know how much you put on doing that? None of our ground is flat enough for that type of irrigation.

Why no pivots? Think they would be cheaper and easier to run, maybe not?

Why no pivots? Think they would be cheaper and easier to run, maybe not? Most of our land has rice in the rotation, pivots don't work too good in rice.

90% of our irrigation in Louisiana is furrow just like that. Pivots will put out enough water to make a cotton crop and a bean crop but just its just too hot and our soils are too thin for pivots. Furrow irrigated corn on good ground, well drained, 200-220 bu. Pivot irrigated on the same ground would be 170-190.

A 10-12 hour downtime event can never be regained. and right now it's really dry in AR. How dry is it in Arkansas? In Lake Hamilton, they caught a 20 lb catfish that had grass ticks on it! It's so dry in Arkansas that the Baptists are starting to baptize by sprinkling. The Methodists are using wet-wipes. The Presbyterians are giving out rain-checks. And the Catholics are praying for the wine to turn back into water. tell me that's not dry!
