8x60 peck auger. less than 200k bushels through it. It is 8 years old though. Went to load a load of corn today, and the shaft twisted between the pto and the flighting. I dont think ive sheared more than 5 shearpins in its life....

Im not sure, as its a swing auger and i cant see anything until i get it pulled apart. All i know right now is i turn the shaft on one side, and nothing turns on the other... The shear bolt never broke, so im not even sure if something is stuck in the auger. Only thing i can really think of atm is that ive never really used it during the winter, and water had gotten in and was around the shaft, maybe rusting it? I cant imagine the shaft would break before the shear bolt otherwise.

Are you sure it's the shaft?? We've had those u-joints break when running really wet corn, but never the shaft.

now i wish i had a parts manual..i didnt think there was a u joint in that spot, but i could be wrong..all i can do is reach in and feel the break, i cant really see it other than the flighting looks to be out of line.

Lets back up... what is and what is not turning??
The u joint I'm talking about is on the short shaft that goes from the lower main gearcase to the upper gearcase that drives the swing auger.
Is that it?

no..the pto shaft hooks on the the bottom sprocket(mechanical drive swing-top sprocket drives swing) That shaft seems to drive the main auger I think. The bottom sprocket/shaft turns on the outside, but nothing turns on the inside. Swing hopper still feeds corn to main auger. Main auger does not turn.

Never been around a Peck, so keep that in mind.
The augers I've had have a socket in the end of the auger shaft that slides over the output shaft on the main gearbox. That is fixed together with a bolt. Check the bolt.

i can feel something in there is all messed up...it may just be that that bolt hole wore and broke on the coupling...i wont really know until i have half a day stuck into it.
