Each shank has 4 proportionally spaced holes towards the bottom of it. I have circled them and the arrows point to them in the picture. What were these pre-drilled holes for? I am assuming some sort of attachment but what, I do not know. Anyone know for sure what thier purpose was? Maybe one of those facebook smartasses that told me an owners manual wasn't necessary could chime in now with thier infident wisdom. Attachments:

Shank protectors most likely, possibly a set of cutoff wings, but most likely shank protectors.

If you look closely Josh, the shank protectors are on the very front of the shank. It's a preformed bar with tabs that is bolted at the top. The bottom has a "U" shaped iron welded to the shaft that slips over the bottom of the shank and held in place.
I cannot see what there would be for anymore shank protection on the sides with those wear shafts bolted on the front.
What are these wings you speak of?

There are shank protectors for the sides, I've seen them to know, never seen a shank wear out at the side either, and we run fairly sandy dirt here. The blades I am thinking of, not ever seen them much, but it is the basic idea of a wing plow, run them just under the surface to cut off roots in fallow land I reckon, never seen anything but a few pictures of them. I know here we run wings on the ripper point, but that is a different idea entirely. In any case, I am 99% sure that those 4 holes are there for shank protectors.
