Anyone got any pics of loader spikes they use for big squares?
Got a call this evening to make one for a local. Just needing some ideas on spacing, number of spikes, and placement? They bought a few loads of big alfalfa bales in place of buying range cubes.
Customer already has forks with 2 spears side by side. Has been using this but not real satisfied with how it's working. May try and fix something to add another spear on each side -- but in a removeable way since most hay around 'here' is round.
Still scratchin' my head how to work the 'kinks' out on this project, but need to get on it this weekend.

Don't have a picture handy, but neighbor handles them with a stabber that has four thin forged spikes in a horizontal row. Spaced about a foot apart. He tried two and said they would slide up between. The flakes too easy. Found it. www.loaders.com/aspx/Product/Default.aspxGo to attachments, you'll find the one I described.

This is what most look like around here. The spacing is 24 inches with spears in the 30 to 36 inch range.

This was the end product today. Added a framework with 2 spikes that bolts to original spike. Needed to be able to remove since most hay is still in big round form. Attachments:
