Based on what hobbyfarmer posted above in Crops about high crop insurance payouts and the lower yields posted in the late planted areas and high amounts of acres not planted in flooded areas.....you would think USDA will lower 2011 production and prices will go up!!! That being said...... they will probably stay the same or go down!!! Markets are hard to call....just have to sell when it works for you!!! And find out later if you did the right thing.....just the way I see it!!!! John

My market stagedy consist of I read on a couple of these sites of what others are saying , take all that info and my gut feeling and make sales. I have a good chunk of corn to haul in for jan. in that 6.60 range. The rest is unsold. Im wondering if 6.00 is the best we will see or will there be a run up in price anytime soon. The way Im set up I dont have to make too many sales untill Feb. and have some I can sit on longer.

Keep in mind this is my "feel" for the market. This market is steadily scaring the short positions and most farmers have all the cash they need for now. Nobody is in a hurry to sell.
I would look to make cash sales back in the $6.50 range before April 1st. That may happen in the first week of January, so be ready.
With the estimated corn acres for 2012, I don't see a big summer run up like last year without major weather issues again.

Here's what I'm seeing locally, maybe you guys can do something with it. Elevators are crying for corn or atleast were . They started taking Jan corn Dec 1 . I had to go clean out a couple of bean bins so those locations could have more corn storage .
All are still shipping beans as fast as they can , ofcourse they may be just filling contracts . But one location has contacted me to come clean 5 of their 6 bean silos saving one for farmers who prefer to haul their own in instead of having the co-ops semis haul direct to Cargill .
