Vistive Gold soybeans deregulated
December 21, 2011 By Bob Meyer The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has cleared the first genetically modified drought-tolerant corn this week. Engineered by Monsanto and BASF the corn is glyphosate-resistant and has the Genuity stacked traits. The corn will be field tested in the Western Great Plains next year.
APHIS published the first assessment of the corn last May and drew more than 250 public comments. In the end the agency says it “has determined the product is unlikely to present a plant risk and is therefore determining non-regulated status.”
Monsanto also received notice of deregulation for its Vistive Gold soybeans this week. Genetically modified to produce soybean oil with increased levels of monounsaturated fat and reduced saturated fat, the beans offer substantially improved oil stability so it does not have to be hydrogenated and therefore does not contain trans fat. The trait has also been approved for use in Canada.

Sorry, this was a copy and paste from the Brownfield network daily briefing and news recap
Wish I had an inside tract to the corn. I'd like to try 80 ac of it out in the desert of Western Ks on one of my farms out there.
