I can see the tractors, but that's ridiculous on the combine...realistically it can't be worth hardly 2/3's that price.

4755 is about due for a PS or ring gear and pinion. All of the 55 series were pretty delicate, but the 47 was the worst of all. It had quite a lot of HP without the benefit of the 49 lower reduction final drives. That is about the weakest ring gear and pinion, considering the HP, that JD ever made. A careful man that would spend his money wisely would not bid over $12000.

That is why my uncle who worked for deere till the late 90's said the only one he had ever opened up was due to cheap red colored hydro fluid. I will one up AC, I will give 16000. With the 12000, does the spring seat come with it or can I up grade and take the cab off?

High crop prices have emboldened normally sane men to do foolish things. You and I both know the JD PS is extremely expensive to overhaul (over $25,000 in some cases) and the ring gear and pinion is probably around $8500. In addition, the final drives are not that great, probably add another $5000-10000 and you can see why it would be foolish for a prudent man to bid over $12000 for such a machine.

JD 8000 Series, are defiantly a large portion of there market, I think they made Deere even bigger and better. Even though I would take a Magnum over a 55 or 60 series Deere. You can't beat the hydraulics on the 8000s too. A 97 or 98 JD 8400 with 6000 hours sold for $90,000!
