If that is Rossi's device it is rumoured DARPA bought the patent, rights and all prototypes. Whatever that is worth....

From that link;
"The E-Cat uses nickel powder and hydrogen gas and a secret catalyst to produce energy. An initial electrical source is used to heat the E-Cat which then went on to produce an output of 470kWh of energy an hour for the next 3-4 hours, yielding a net energy output the equivalent of 60 gallons of petrol."
We don't know what the supply of the secret catalyst is, but the price of nickel shot up as its best supply is tapped out. If the world is gonna run on nickel powder, then it better find a planet that has more of it.
On any given day one can find a guy who perfected cold fusion and that's been the case for years. The only problem is it never works. Newtons 2nd law will see to that.
I know, I know, the oil companies buy up all patents... Ya right. Which oil company? Exxon has maybe 5% of global marketshare so if it actually did buy up patent on cold fusion it would logically introduce it to market and capture 100% of global energy market, and what a more huge market that would be!

The best idea like this I ever saw is Thorium reactors which have gone absolutely nowhere. There's never been a nuke plant in the world built without massive subsidy because they won't stand on their own. Too low EROEI to function without govt rigging the game.
If cold fusion etc somehow does manage to save the day, expect farmland to crash and suburban property to soar.

When farmland crashes I plan to be buying. Even if I have to maintain a force or armed guards to keep the citiots at bay. One thing I truly hate is urban sprawl into good farmland. Exactly why I hate every square inch of Janesville Wisconsin.
