Just out of curosity. Those silos have always fascinated me for some reason. Probably isn't the wisest thing to own one, hasn't quelled my interest in them neverless. Anyway, who on here has one, just curious on your experiences with them. No, it doesn't matter one way or the other, like I said just curious.

Have three of them. A HMSC unit, a 20x80 I use for haylage and a 20x90 that I use for corn silage. I absolutely love them. Biggest thing is keep the unlaoders GREASED! And you will have little trouble. Are the chains expensive....yes. The top cutter chain is about $3000 installed, but my last about 5 years. The bottom chains are about $2500 installed and they typically last about 7 years or so. You get little mold or spoilage and hardly any shrink. But the best thing is that you are always feeding fermented feed.

BTW, should mention the corn unit has a power sweep auger in it.

Hey dman, rumor has it you have a destroyed cell phone? ECI must have been calling you at the moment of its demise.
Anyhoo, did you lose my phone #? If you did, get it from Duke. Or email me if you want the inside skinny on the new hybrids.
BTW, the Case is running fine but the cab certainly is not up to JD Soundguard cab standards.

Josh : Around here ( North Central Wis.) , most blue silos are on bigger farms that had large stall barns. Thatwould be from 85 to 150 milk cows or so . When these farms made the expansion to free stalls and parlors(400 to 1000 cow herds and up) the blue tubes were at first generally used to store high moisture corn and later as high moisture corn began to be stored in bunkers also are now just standing empty or have been taker down!! Generally these units do not unload fast enough to feed these big herds in a timely manner!!!
Larry- Door Co. I think has harveys and can tell you more!! Also Bentover in Marathon Co. Wis.

KWest, the Harvestores aren't something I get anytime soon if at all, though I know where two sets are free for the taking, one set empty, other set the grain one is empty, forage is still full of corn silage. As the corn silage is still dripping, I pretty well know that one is shot. Both sets are on former cattle feeding operations, fed cattle market pretty well left this area in the 80's, along with hogs in the 90's. In any case, I would pretty well fit the small criteria for them, 100 cow max on our farm, and that is getting creative, small site I am working in here, no real room nor desire to be big.

Have a 20 x 60 that i use for HMSC.It was put up as a forage unit for dairy but now I feed out holstiens and use it for that.
