Compare and contrast the technocratic approach to problem solving resource constraints in the central european german speaking countries to the militant hucksterism (bomb first say please later) one finds in the Anglosphere. One will note that the ratio of lawyers to other professions/discplines is exactly mirror opposite in comparing Congress to the German Bundesrat. In fact if I recall correctly, the Chancellor is a physicist, Obama a constitooshunal lawyer. The future.... is now.

So... How does "Dutch Disease" play into all of this new efficiency? It appears that the "Resource Curse" isn't gonna hamstringing these folks at all? (Cause their only resource is brains)
A couple years ago when Haiti was in the news big a friend said the reason they are poor is their population out ran their resource base. I disagreed. Singapore has living standards the rest of the world can only dream about... not because they have resources, but because they ADD VALUE to them. They have the best resources there is... Private Property Rights.
I really wonder at the whole point of stimulating the economy. Every penny rise in gasoline prices subtracts gobs of money from the economy. Adding $1.50/gallon wipes out all the money for TARPs I and II.
It appears that while we fiddle, other countries are leaving us in their dust? Why am I not surprised...
