Added your ugly mug to my friends list on fb. Go accept and get with the program.
And so this ties into the category that I put this post in (which I know is about all you probably read).
Years ago at the state fair there was a breed there I had never heard of before and had a small chat with the guy. Blon'd Aquatines. Not exactly sure if I spelled that right.
I was wondering if any of you fellas on here have that breeding in your herds.
If so.. brag about them again to me. I remember they did have excellant mothering traits and were advocated as good milkers and mild dispostions but I thought they were a lil to fine of frame and light on muscle to compete with the beef breeds today from a production standpoint hanging on the rail.

Hey Rich I have never heard of that breed of cattle. I saw the email and added you to my friends list but I never go to Facebook and have never been able to get into it. It just seems like too many people are looking over my shoulder or something. I will try to do better but I dont guarantee anything.

Look the breed up on google. It was the first I had ever heard of it but this was back when I was in college so we are talking 20 years ago. I haven't heard anything in years since that day about the breed and I wondered.. maybe if I did a shout out here.. someone had them and would chime in.

Better spelling is maybe Blonde d’Aquitaine? Thanks google Rich, I got to hand it to you. I think you just found me the breed that a guy in the neighborhood raises. It has had me stumped. One of those deals where the guy keeps to himself and when you're driving by on the highway, you don't get the greatest of look at the cattle. I've been thinking they are a Charolais/Red Angus cross. I might just need to stop and talk to the guy now.

Bingo Jefe.. Thats how it's spelled. I knew I wasn't right but I was sorta close... hand grenade close. lol
I remember those cattle.. I thought they were small framed charlois when we were at the fair. The breed it'self purebred is white.
At any rate... It is not a breed that is advertised highly nor is it ever spoke much about when you hear terms like heavy muscled, substance of bone, Marbling, or carcass traits.
I do believe the meat is some of your better grade and yield cuts. Prime if not choice but yet how they accomplish this without any marbeling rave revues is above me.
From what I seen of the livestock you would never worry about a 1400 lb steer. If you got him to 1200 he was on feed a damn long time and how you aquired that much blubber on him would be a mystery.... they seem to be a leaner livestock with very lil cover and backfat. I can't see anyone ever claim these cuts wouldn't "fit the box" like that Genius OverLord livestock judge told me when I got 3rd from last place with a 1400 lb steer at the fair one year.
Had I been the smartass I am now I would of looked at him and said one word.
Ginzu.

Dad and I had 1 blonde crossed cow years ago. She was black and muscled just a little different . We had her for several years and she raised a good calf every year IIRC.

Rich....I cannot rightly recall. That was a while ago. I would guess she came with a bunch of heifers that Dad bought in the early 80's. Those are the last hiefers or cows that were purchased here. I was probably 12 or so at that time but I would bet we had her around for 10 years or so. The only other way would have been an AI deal as Dad dabbled in that for a while also.
