The wife took Norton off the computer in my office (it's not on line). I'm not sure if it was on the machine when we got it (new from Dell)...or she put it on when she was downloading things when first setting it up.
Anyway, it started putting up a notice that Norton was about to expire. Since it wasn't on line I had her take it off....now when you open an Excel file it's slow as all get out. If you have one file open, it will open others OK.
What the heck did taking Norton off due to this thing?
.... TIA ....................Mark

It is my experience and only my opinion that Norton will do that to a computer. I would suggest that you go to "control panel" and then go to add and remove programs. Look for any vestiges of Norton still on your computer.
There will always be great debates about things like that, however, trust me I have a bit of experience with those types of things. Two things I have run into. Macafee and Norton sometimes act as their own virus. Just my opinion and experience.

Wife put Norton 360 back on and it works OK again. She said there were files missing (that Norton took with it). You're right, to me, that sounds like Norton is its own virus. I'm not to computer literate, so I assume it's like your ex-wife flatting your tires on her way out the door. .................................Mark

Try using Revo uninstaller (free version) to uninstall Norton or the Norton's own uninstaller. They are a devil to get completely uninstalled.
