WIth a projected all milk price of 17.-18.50 for nest year, here's the question. How the hell do you make that work? We will be working for free again at those prices especially with the price of corn and bean meal. Yea I grow my own but dang it I want to make some real money here!
Looks like the futures are betting on that with the 012 contracts all under 18.
Jeez this is gettin old.

I gotta believe that this is just another piece of the USDA comic book. With the latest word out of USDA that the corn crop is down (again), and hay supplies between tight and non-existant in a substantial part of the country, I believe this is just the lull before the storm.
That said, if the US looses our export markets for whatever reason, it could get really ugly until the banksters step up and start shutting down dairies.
There is more frustration in my corner of the world with dairy farmers than I've ever seen (easily on par with 2009, perhaps more).

linsal, if I may ask, whereabouts in SWWis? I like that area, tried college at UWP and finished at SWTC.
IMO, A dairy farmer has to be a glutton for punishment to stay in that business. I never was so happy as 11.23.03 when the cows went down the road.
