HI! and, What's amsunshine been up to?

Hi everyone, just heard about this board. So THIS is where all the NAT refugees are hanging out! Hi to Rich, MarlandS, ACFarmer, MOJeeper, and any others I missed.

For all you others, I'm a Chicago native who married a KS farmer last December. My house is up for sale and I am gearing up for a move to KS, the sooner the better. About half of my stuff is already in KS.

An update for the rest of you who already know the basics:

I have been busy between Chicago and KS. I'm burning the candle at both ends, and unfortunately I singe myself every now and then.

The house hasn't sold yet. The situation at my current job is not good. I'm looking for a job in KS (have several applications in). We got 2 new kittens (will be outdoor/barn cats). We got 10 baby guinea fowl.

I was out there last week. The heat is something else! I did help KSBoy and his brother work cattle all day on the 4th in 100 degree heat. I was the hander-over of the vaccines, flea/tick bath, scalpel, and ear tags. I had to sit down a few times in the shade and drank water like a camel! It was a great experience and I'd do it again. We also weeded the 60' x 100' garden (thanks to my friend Amy for her help with that!).

I've come to the conclusion that I'm in terrible shape from sitting at a desk all day and on a train turning into a blob. I could feel my stress level going down with all the hard work and great surroundings (people, farm life), and I'm sure I dropped a few pounds and I sure did get a nice tan too! I think KS life will be good for my physical health!

I'm pretty exhausted though--I sleep (or try to) on the train on the way into the city, and sometimes on the way out too. Too much to keep up with. I can hardly wait to make the permanent move KS and start my life there!

You'll get used to that kansas heat. Just make sure to get out in it everyday and do work. It'll whip you good. Take the zest out of your skip, but in due time you will be used to it and realize that taking a waterjug with alotta ice is as 2nd nature as putting your shoes on each morning.

Rich, you've always been nice to me. I think the other folks had a problem with the physical thing you mentioned, but that's past and you're here.

Yes, the heat really zapped my zest but good. It was somethin' else. Though I'm not a morning person, I got up early one morning to do work before the inferno started blasting. Worked out much better that way.

The dog--he is loving it there. He ran full tilt towards a skunk one day, and when I saw him going towards that bundle of black and white, I YELLED at him to stop. Do you know--he listened!!!! I was pleasantly shocked. He came back to me, KSBoy shot the skunk, and everyone was happy. WHEW!
