Hello everyone. Nice to be here in the refugee camp - the Land of Misfit Farmers! Many thanks to the management here for allowing me to set up my tent.
For those who may not know me from another board, I am a self-admitted Apple Fanboy. I despise Google - they are thieves, plain and simple. I also dislike Microsoft for their lack of originality in their desktop OS's over the years, but have to give them credit for their new mobile OS which IS original.
A couple of things I want to make perfectly clear here going forward. Print this post out for future reference since inevitably, some joker will accuse me of these things...
1. Apple products are NOT perfect. They are electronic devices and like anything (other than rocks), they WILL act up from time to time and some things are just not easy to figure out on them. Having said that, I personally feel they are far better than most of their competitors. Data collected from users says the same thing.
2. I like to debate and argue about these topics. If you reply to one of my posts with an argument, expect that I will reply back with a counter-argument. It is not a game of who's wiener is bigger in my mind - but I feel the back and forth puts information out there that others reading can find useful. I believe the going train of thought is that on the net, there are 10 people lurking for every 1 person willing to post. All I ask is that you do not take it personally and take the same point of view that the more we debate, the more others can gain.
3. When discussing these topics, I typically make points that I feel pertain to the greater user demographic out there rather than individual cases. Exceptions would obviously be someone who is having a problem with his or her's own device or certain apps. In general though, I look at users as a whole and talk in those terms. I believe the greatest majority of users out there lack computer skills beyond the basics. That is not saying they are "dumb" by any means. It merely means that most real-life people I encounter only have basic computer skills and much of what I say pertains to that group as a whole. I feel it doesn't do too much good to "speak" in high-level terms when 90% of it will just end up leaving many readers scratching their heads in bewilderment.
4. Why did I come here? Well. if Rich "The Hammer" has survived here this long, I will probably be fine. ;D LOL!!!
