Going to start and sticky this so we can give harvest updates and report findings, etc.
Getting ready to go full tilt here in SW MO but between low yield, TW and aflatoxin its not going to be anything much to brag about.
Look forward to hearing and seeing what you guys get into.

In my part of east central or southeast Kansas depending on how you look at it, we are going to brag if the corn makes over 50. Had what I put in the silo appraised, some was 0, some was 20s, some 40.

Sooo this the bullshit thread. You know nobody ever tells the truth when it comes to yield and moisture. BTOs son the other day said there corn was making 180 and testing 20. If he would have left the 1 of and put a 3 in the place of the 2 he would have been closer.

My grandfather used to say a farmer would lie about three things: How many fish he caught The gas mileage of his truck and His Yields
I avg a little over 110. Had a dryland field cut 14. Had a 37 acre field, irrigated, go 209.

Good thread anyhow, it will be awhile before we will report in from north of the Cheddar Curtain. Farmers here are getting ready to chop corn silage but it is still not quite ready.
From walking my fields, it appears to be a decent corn crop where the deer didn't eat it. I'd give it a B+, not an A......better than average but not really exceptional like 2010.

Funny you mention 2010, Plugger. It was one of our worst in recent history.
This year looks like it'll be a bit better, but below average.
105 day corn planted the first week of May is our furthest along and it should black layer this week. Too early for here. We'll monitor stalk quality and harvest when it's dry or stalk rots get too bad, probably start last week in september on corn, maybe the week before on a few early beans.

2008,09,10 were all pretty crappy here. Now 2011 is trying to top them all.

I had a guy tell me today that we were due for a bad year because we had a couple good ones. I must have missed the good ones.
We havent had an average Junes rainfall in the last three junes combined. I can take the august heat, but Im getting tired of it being bone dry and 100 in late may and June.

They seem to be able to get D3-d4 drought statis and not us. You must have one hell of a little 3000gpm pump on your corn patch?

I think for a 2 month stretch I never shut it down. Just to make you feel better, I harrowed down the dryland, wasn't anything there. New state record was set this year on corn, 353 bu. acre.

New state record was set this year on corn, 353 bu. acre. Thats what I mean. Most guys around here couldn't come close to 200bu per acre unless they were pumping 10gpm per acre. Most guys are set up for closer to 5gpm per acre. (Or just west of me, nobody waters around here) Im sure the record corn was closer to 10 or 15gpm per acre. Ive got some 100bu corn that had more water put on it than ever before and it hasn't made under 200 sinse I started watering it. ( 30 acres, 200gpm pump)
