What brand to buy? My old Partner needs parts and can't find what I need.

I run Stihl. They do seam to use more gas then others I have used.
For light work the 170 (14" bar) is my favorite.
Also have a 290, 310 both with 20" bars, and a 4?? with a 36" bar.

I run Husky, and am very satisfied. Having said that, my next one will probably be a Stihl.

I run Stihl here. My oldest brother works at the Stihl dealership(which is also the Deere). I guess that's how I got them.

When I used to sell firewood for a living I ran stihl. Now I run poulan. I don't mind it so bad if a tree falls on it or it slams around the back of the pickup as they are cheap.

I finally figgered out where the name Poulan came from. You pull on (Puolan) the rope until you're blue in the face.

I've got two Deere's the 16 inch is a rebranded Homelite, I think, and the 24 inch is a rebadged Olympik . Then I have a couple of Craftsman's that I bought cheap to loan out when someone wants to borrow one. There were 3 until one got borrowed and proved why i keep cheap saws for loaners .

I bought a Dolmar a couple of year ago and it's a cutting machine. My stepson who has had Stihl in the past even said it was a bad ass chainsaw. I had never heard of them but a local business was selling them so I took their advice and I've been happy with it since.

Another vote for Stihl here. Have a MS170 and it is a great smaller saw for quick or small stuff. I usually run a 034, its got enough power to handle bigger stuff yet it isn't too bad weight wise. For real big stuff the 066 will make an appearance.
Never had any issues with them, besides the spark arrestor in the 170 plugging up.

Dave, Ses, do you guys have to use your visegrips to get the gas cap off? And when the chain jumps off, you know, every time you get it pinched under a little limb, the spocket grinds it up enough so you have to file it to get it to go back into the bar. It is pretty tough, you can smash it up again a tree several times but it keeps on tickin.
We have an old Homelite super XL, that was a good saw.

Ive got a 029 stihl. It seems to be a decent saw but I dont use it all that much either. My hired man who is a ex logger prefers huskys . He says stihls are ok too but the husky is easier to work on. 20 minutes will have a husky pretty much tore down and a stihl is closer to 2 hours.
