Ideally, March 10-15 here on corn, April 20 on peanuts, Cotton first week of may, soybeans are generally here doublecrop only, be in mid June after wheat, if it isn't planted to doublecrop cotton, if you can get corn picked by the end of July, can plant a Group 5 bean after corn first week of August and have a decent chance of maturing before frost. Wheat, Oats, Rye, Barley, end of October through second week of December, I shoot to be done by Thanksgiving. I dont think I am going to make the corn date this year.

Like to start May1 on corn. They say if you have to pick one day to do it pick May 10. I also plant beans as soon as am done with corn. Although as long as we get them done by the end of May I haven't noticed a difference in yields. I am half way between Omaha and Sioux City.

In central Illinois I'd like to get corn planted around April 20. But nature needs to help out. Would like to do beans between May 10-20.

North Mo. I like to start corn around the 4-10, but with optimistic forecast and warm dirt I will push that. Planted a little one year the last day of March,, then planted it again about the first of May. Usually I start beans when corn is done, sometimes plant a few at the same time. Ultimately I'd like to wait until 4-25 before I start on beans.

April 20th to the 23rd seems to be the sweet spot for corn. The first week of May for beans. Tried April beans a couple of times just doesn't seem to work.

Half way between Des Moines and the state of Missery. anytime after April 20 if the weather/ conditions "feel" right.
The best average been crop I have had was planted before the corn. Have to try to out guess the last hard frost though.
Due to my very great variance in fields and their condition and the rotation dictates my planting schedule on which crop gets planted first.

NEMO,,,, 15th-20th is when I like to start corn. Last year there was one guy planting around the 20th of march. Alot of them seen to want to start the first week of April if weather permits and it always seems that they are replanting it the first of May.
Beans , pretty much as soon as corn is in although alot of years it seems my best beans are the ones planted the last week of May, first week of june.

I-80 corridor in extreme eastern Iowa.
Sweet spot seems to be April 20-25 for corn and somewhere around May 1 for soybeans but like to wait for a warm forecast on beans.
Been getting small rains lately, but overall a little on the dry side.

Thanks for the response : Other than Josh in Georgia , planting dates are not as different as I thought they would be. One difference would be , I will plant May 1 and as early as Apr. 25 if ground is right and weather forcast does not call for heavy rain or cold conditions but I will be planting 80 to 87 day corn. I would imagine 95 to 110 day corn for those in the corn belt. John

We try to be going good around April 15. Sometimes that turns into April 20 Just south of I-70 a ways, right on the CO/KS border. Most of the cash corn guys in the area plant 105-110 day corn.

Exit 70 on I-80 in IL.... Couple days either way of April 30, usually one of the latter few to get going in the neighborhood.
Last year had argueably *the* best conditions to plant from May 4-11................................then 2 weeks later we got 5 1/2" of rain in 2 hours.

I think you should have asked how many day corn people plant. Ive found that will vary a bunch.
around here most of the corn is 109-114 day corn.
Beans 3.5-4.2 for the most part.

Corn ranges from 105-114 with most being 108-112.
Most of the beans are late 2's and early 3's. We don't get much past a 3.5 bean.
